Thunderlips and the Submissives is the inaugural house short-form team at Big Dog Theater in Coventry. As some of you may not speak improv, a few definitions:
short form ˈʃɔːrt ˈfɔːrm - adj - a style of improvised comedy revolving around a series a games or stand-alone scenes, with audience suggestions throughout. Think 'Whose Line is it Anyway?'. Contrasts with 'long form' where a single suggestion is spun into a half-hour or longer series of interconnected scenes.
house team ˈhaʊs ˈtiːm - n - like a resident acting company or a standing army, house teams are the backbone of a comedy theater. Formed via auditions or from classes at the theater, and scheduled in rotation with other house teams, they perform regularly throughout the year.
Big Dog Theater ər ju ˈredɪŋ ˈðɪs - n - Cleveland's home for comedy of all stripes from improv to sketch to stand up, to touring acts and classes for all ages. Conveniently located on Euclid Heights Blvd in Cleveland Heights.
Coventry ˈkəvəntri - n - a neighborhood in east Cleveland known for its laid-back style, bohemian atmosphere, great eats, arts scene, and, now, high-quality improvised comedy.
